The Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI has made some important announcements through its Twitter handle. Aadhaar Services to Resume
In second tweet, UIDAI mentioned, “You may check available appointment slots in your area on the appointment portal or Aadhaar App.”
UIDAI added, “Please follow the advisory issued by your local administration related to #Lockdown4. After services resume, social distancing in and outside the Aadhaar Kendra will be mandated.”
It is to be noted that, on April 27, the Unique Identification Authority of India has allowed the Common Service Centre (CSC), an SPV (special purpose vehicle) under the Ministry of IT and Electronics for starting the Aadhaar updation facility at 20,000 centres that operate as Banking Correspondents (BCs).
The UIDAI has decided the June deadline to start of work after CSCs with banking facilities upgrade their infrastructure & get more necessary approvals.
According to the Supreme Court order, the Aadhaar work through CSCs was discontinued in December 2018. From then, there has been a demand from the VLEs, running more than 3.5 lakh CSCs, for starting the Aadhaar enrolment work as they had invested in the Aadhaar kits and has trained manpower.
