Within days of the launch of Aarogya Setu app, over 30 lakh citizens have downloaded it. The Aarogya Setu app launched by the government of India enables people to self-assess the risk of getting coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Available for both Android and iPhones, the app uses your phone’s Bluetooth, Location and mobile number to check whether you have interacted with someone who could have tested positive for COVID-19. Here is how to use the Aarogya Setu app…
Step-1: Download Aarogya Setu app on your phone from the official app store
Aarogya Setu app is available on both Android and iOS and can be downloaded via respective app stores. Ensure that there’s no space between Aarogya and Setu or simply type ‘AarogyaSetu’ in the search bar to find the app.
Step-2: Open the Aarogya Setu app and choose your desired language
Aarogya Setu app is available in 11 Indian languages including English and Hindi. After installing it, open the app and select the desired language.
Step-3: Go through the information page and tap the Register Now button at the last slide
Step-4: Aarogya Setu app needs Bluetooth and GPS data. Allow the required app permissions to work
The Aarogya Setu uses your mobile number, Bluetooth and location data for contact tracing and predicts whether you are at risk or not.
Step-5: Register with your phone number and verify OTP to use Aarogya Setu app
The app works after you register your mobile number and verify it with an OTP. There is an optional form which asks for Name, Age, Profession and countries traveled outside in the last 30 days. Note that you can skip this form. However, if you wish to be a volunteer in the time of need then you have the option to enroll yourself as one.
Step-6: The app shows your risk level in Green and Yellow colour codes. It also suggests what to do
If you are marked in Green with a text saying ‘You are Safe’ then there’s nothing to worry about. You need to follow guidelines like social distancing and staying at home to prevent getting infected.
Step-7: If you are marked in Yellow with a text saying ‘You are at high risk’, then you need to contact a helpline
If you are marked in Yellow with a text saying ‘You are at high risk’, the app will suggest you to contact a helpline number in your state along with other guidelines.
Step-8: You can use the ‘Self Assessment Test’ feature on Aarogya Setu app
To use this feature, tap on the option and then the app will open a chat window where it asks some questionnaire related to the user’s current health and symptoms such as Gender, Age, Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms, etc.
Step-9: Aarogya Setu app: How to access COVID-19 Help Center details
Tap on the Covid-19 Help centers button and scroll down to location once in your city.
