The COVID-19 crisis has hit the economies around the world, leaving several people with an immediate need for money. The government has announced many schemes to help the common man. To purchase food at a subsidised rate, people need a ration card – a document issued by the State Government of India. It allows users to buy food grains and other related items from the PDS system that is maintained under the National Food Security Act.
The ration cards are issued to select people on the basis of yearly income, the number of family members etc. It is of great importance to the lower-income groups. The government has made it mandatory for ration card holders to link it with Aadhaar cards.
